Legal and professional services group Gateley was the first commercial law firm to float on the London Stock Exchange in 2015. Following this ground-breaking move, the Birmingham-based business committed to a strategy of organic growth and acquisitions to extend its reach beyond law into other professional service areas.
Since flotation Gateley has grown quickly doubling in size in terms of its people, opening new offices and achieving year-on-year turnover growth.
Back in 2015 Gateley’s IT wasn’t in the shape required by the newly floated company and needed to inject new leadership skills and experience into its IT function. Freeman Clarke provided a rapid route for Gateley to secure those skills and experience with the appointment of a Principal.
Gateley is proud of its reputation for straight-talking — ensuring advice is always clear, straightforward, and easy to put into practice. The Freeman Clarke Principal enabled strong relationships between Gateley’s senior management and the IT team through describing IT strategy, projects and challenges in a clear and straightforward way, with pragmatic recommendations that could be implemented.
‘Investing in IT has been — and will continue to be — critical for the continued growth and success of the Gateley business. The flexibility and depth of experience provided by the Freeman Clarke model has been ideal for us as we’ve grown. Freeman Clarke, and the Principal in particular, has given us the confidence we need to make those investments.’ — Peter Davies, Chief Operating Officer and Partner
