Navera Investment Management’sfocus has always been clear: to help clients grow and preserve their wealth through disciplined thinking, global perspective, and a commitment to long-term opportunities. This focus requires more than investment expertise. It requires the infrastructure, insight, and resilience to operate with absolute confidence in a rapidly changing world.
Back in 2018, Navera (formerly Veritas Investment Management) faced an essential inflection point. The firm’s outsourced IT provider struggled to meet expected service standards, creating avoidable disruption for staff and raising concerns about operational resilience. Tickets went unanswered, issues lingered and, with the Board preparing for a strategic shift to cloud-based systems, confidence in the incumbent provider’s ability to deliver a secure transition was low.
To support the transformation, Freeman Clarke’s David Carter stepped in as Navera’s fractional IT leader. What followed was a thoughtful simplification of the firm’s technology landscape and a significant uplift in capability and stability.
David began by reshaping the firm’s technology partnerships by rigorously evaluating new providers, negotiating improved contracts, and managing a smooth transition to a more capable Managed Service Provider. He then orchestrated the migration of Navera’s on-premises infrastructure into the cloud, ensuring continuity, security, and no disruption to client service.
When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, David’s leadership proved invaluable. He enabled the firm to transition to full remote working within days and ensured every employee had the tools, access, and support needed to continue serving clients without interruption.
Today, David is further strengthening Navera’s security posture by implementing enhanced monitoring, proactive threat detection, and a continuous programme of staff education to reinforce cyber awareness and regulatory compliance. These measures are a vital part of Navera’s ongoing commitment to protecting client information and maintaining trust.
As a result of this work, Navera is now stronger, more resilient, cloud-enabled, security-conscious, and equipped with the digital foundations required to support its long-term investment philosophy. With David’s guidance, the firm has reduced operational friction, strengthened its risk posture, and created the space to focus on what matters most: serving clients and uncovering enduring investment opportunities.
