Career Connections is the leading talent advisory firm in East Africa. Their unique way of solving talent challenges is inspired by their local roots and a global network of partners with the aim of helping organisations recruit, develop, and retain the best people through expertise in executive search, talent assessments, team and leadership development, as well as executive coaching.
Career Connections engaged with Freeman Clarke in 2019 to gain support for IT strategy development and to help guide the business through a period of change and growth. Freeman Clarke engaged remotely, presenting an initial assessment of the IT environment, offering guidance and a roadmap for upgrade and change.
Freeman Clarke, then, ran a full study of all aspects of the IT hardware, software, networking and telecoms systems run by the company, understanding the business strategy and the long-term growth plan, so that the IT strategy could be matched to these objectives. Several areas were identified as needing attention to allow Career Connections to grow the business successfully, such as IT Managed Services, for which Freeman Clarke helped Career Connections find potential suppliers, created the tender documents, interviewed and evaluated the responses from suppliers in partnership with Career Connections, and provided professional oversight to the team.
Once the new supplier was on board, Freeman Clarke supported delivering projects, such as moving from Google Mail to Office 365, including the human side of the equation for the transition. It was around this time that COVID-19 hit the world, and Freeman Clarke were involved in the emergency planning and guidance for the business to allow the team to move quickly to work from home within weeks.
‘Freeman Clarke has been our trusted advisor in all IT-related matters. At the onset, the team spent time understanding the business, from both a current and future point of view, designing an IT strategy for that effect. They then supported us in executing this strategy by helping source local IT vendors, establish project scope and support us during the implementation stage. They have also supported us in identifying and transition to a different Managed IT Service Provider, in line with our changing needs.
I do not have an IT background and therefore the support provided by Freeman Clarke has been a welcome relief. Not only do they have the technical expertise and understanding within the IT space but are able to translate this information into layman’s terms. Both Mike and Brian were very responsive and easy to reach out to, whenever a need arose. I have really appreciated and valued at their input.’
